Bergville Literacy Program

The Bergville Literacy Program is one of IKusasalentsha's core initiatives aimed at building a strong reading culture in rural primary schools. Through creative and engaging literacy activities, the program develops learners' skills in reading, writing, public speaking, and critical thinking.

Program Components:

📘 Book Clubs

Launched in 2023 with just three schools, the program has since grown to include six participating primary schools. The Book Clubs promote literacy through fun, competitive, and educational activities such as:

📚 Mobile Library & Storytelling Days

We bring books and interactive storytelling sessions directly to schools through our traveling literacy team, making reading fun and accessible for all learners.

🏆 Bookathon (Final Competition)

The annual Bookathon event brings all participating schools together to showcase their skills in front of an audience—recognizing outstanding learners, awarding certificates, and celebrating a shared love for literacy.
